Dr. Laura Watterson

Chiropractic Physician/Owner
9488.jpg

Dr. Laura Watterson has a passion for helping athletes. She specializes in treatment and prevention of athletic injuries and sports performance optimization. Utilizing numerous cutting edge rehab techniques and her diverse skill set, Dr. Watterson treats athletes of all levels from amateur to professional. Unlike traditional sports rehab which focuses on the specific area of pain, she focuses on identifying the root cause of the injury by looking at the body as a whole, rather than just on the injury site.

Since founding Charlotte Sports Performance and Rehab (now ROGAN Sports Clinc) in 2014, Dr. Watterson has worked with professional athletes from the NFL, NASCAR, AHL, MLL and PGA. She has worked with and treated professional athletes during season and off season, guiding them through athlete specific strength and mobility classes to complement their current training goals and programs.  She specializes in repairing acute and chronic soft-tissue injuries minimizing games and training missed for professional and amateur athletes.  Her approach allows athletes to maximize their training efforts.  To reduce the likelihood of future injury she addresses current complaints while working to establish proper movement patterns.  Dr. Watterson listens to the challenges faced by her athletes, works with coaches and trainers, learns about their particular routine and goals, and is determined to address each athlete’s specific needs during a particular training period.

Dr. Watterson also consults health and fitness instructors and strength coaches to help them deliver safe and effective exercises and programs, so that their athletes can optimize training and results while avoiding injury. Dr. Watterson’s track record of success with professional/elite athletes has helped her establish numerous relationships and partnerships with coaches, trainers, and therapists to successfully co-manage athlete therapy – benefiting all parties, and most importantly helping the athlete remain healthy and focused.

Dr. Watterson earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree, Cum Laude, from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL.

Prior to her chiropractic studies, Dr. Watterson attended Wingate University and graduated Cum Laude where she competed at the NCAA level for the Wingate University women’s swim team. Her university swimming career earned her CSCAA All-American and Academic All-American awards. In fall of 2017, Dr. Watterson was inducted into the Wingate University Sports Hall of Fame for her successful collegiate swimming career.

Dr. Watterson has been active throughout her life. In high school, she competed in track, volleyball, and basketball, and while in college she worked as a personal trainer.  She is a Boston marathon qualifier, and spends time running in Charlotte neighborhoods, greenways and White Water Center trails.  On the weekends, you can almost always find her swimming laps at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Aquatic Center in preparation for a US Masters Swimming competition or her next open water race. Dr. Watterson enjoys spending time practicing and teaching yoga, kayaking and enjoying the outdoors, and most of all, spending time with her sons Robert and Logan, and their two cats Garth and Wayne.

From the time she started her first trimester at Palmer, she held a class officer position and was involved in several community services projects put on by the school. Dr. Kylie took several elective courses including Advanced Soft Tissue and Motion Palpation Institute courses that focused on the Rehabilitation Treatment of the athletic population of all levels and advanced courses in Pregnancy and Pediatrics. Upon graduation, Dr. Kylie chose to take a job in the beautiful Charlotte area, drawn to the Great Smoky Mountains and the proximity of the Atlantic Coast.
